Student’s Comments

The following are comments from students who are either new to Karate or new to our more practical approach to Karate.

I didn't go to Max Impact, because I was looking to get fit, I wasn't thinking of joining a gym and I certainly wouldn't of started running. I started going on Sunday mornings to break the boredom of Sunday's. What I found at Morley on Sundays was nothing but pain, sweat and at times, convinced I was having a heart attack. But the sense of achievement at 11.30 at the finish was like nothing I'd felt before. Sunday's now are something to look forward too. Also losing a stone was quite a bonus.

I was looking for a way to exercise and get fit that was away from the usual Gym or running. I had no idea what to expect but both trainers were welcoming and had no expectations of my ability. I was new to this type of exercise but was soon hooked on Sunday morning training. Good fun and hard work, the only question is why I did not find this sooner.

Max impact it benefits me in makes me fit and allows me to push past my limit and when I started at 14 I struggled cuz I didn’t have much stamina but now I feel like I can go on for longer and I get to see a lot of nice people who help and support me so I feel better and it encourages me.

Max Impact. Two words that have changed my life in more ways than one. If you want to be physically and mentally challenged far beyond you have ever been , then this is for you. It’s an hour and 15 mins of Aerobic and anaerobic drills based on correct form for punching , kicking and footwork. Body mechanics play a huge part for generating power and you will learn this too. Learning to hold pads for your partner is an art in itself. As is hitting those pads. Learning to breath properly and remembering to breath plays a huge part too. It’s very martial arts based too and you can learn lots from it as in stance , balance movement. This was also my stepping stone to karate with Graham and Neil who run these very demanding sessions .. !

Max Impact is great for fitness with the added benefit of learning some practical self-defence at the same time. Everyone is very friendly and there is no pressure to over work yourself, you can train at your own pace (of course you are encouraged to push yourself). The class is also very inclusive of people at any level of fitness or self-defence training, whether you're a beginner or more advanced.
